Spring Concert - March 26 & 27
Who We Are
The UNC Loreleis is an all-female a cappella group consisting of sixteen dedicated undergraduate women from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This student group is named after the mythical siren that enchanted sailors with her voice and lured them to their deaths.
The Loreleis is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1981. They perform for both campus and community events. The group releases a new album every other year and tours nationally and internationally twice a year. The Loreleis include a wide variety of styles in song selection; their current repertoire includes contemporary pop, R&B, country, alternative, oldies and holiday classics.
The Loreleis is proud to say they released their newest CD this spring (2010)! The album features the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Carrie Underwood, Paramore, Toto, Sia, Neil Young, Ingrid Michaelson, Esthero and more! Our last release was in April of 2008 and was titled “On The Record”. Samples from our new CD will be posted soon. Order your own copy today!
Throughout Loreleis history, they have won many local and national acclaims. On Wednesday, February 25, 2009, the Loreleis opened a concert for Ben Folds at the Durham Performing Arts Center. They are also featured on Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella, an album that Ben Folds released in 2009 after evaluating many submissions made by groups across the country. On Wednesday, October 13, 2004, the Loreleis sang the National Anthem at Yankees Stadium during the second game of the American League Championship Series. While in New York City, they visited Trump Towers and serenaded Donald Trump.
